Hammitt Speaks at CES Conference

James Hammitt was keynote speaker at the Chinese Economists Society North America Conference, held at the University of Georgia, Athens, April 5-6, 2018. In keeping with the conference theme, “Regulatory Impact Analysis: Methods, Applications, and Implications for Emerging Economies,” Professor Hammitt spoke about the challenges of estimating monetary values of changes in mortality risk in emerging economies. He also presented estimates of how much the monetary value of mortality-risk reduction increases in economies undergoing rapid growth, including estimates for Chengdu, China for 2005 and 2016, and for Taiwan from 1982 through 1997.
