CHDS welcomes YuLi (Lily) Hsieh and Mike Eber to the PhD Program in Health Policy decision science track beginning Fall 2019. Yuli (Lily) Hsieh graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BSc in Pharmacology in 2015 and received her MPH in Epidemiology of Microbial Disease from the Yale School of Public Health in 2018. After graduating from Yale she served as a Research Assistant at the Yale School of Public Health Modeling Unit. During her time at Yale, she developed compartmental TB/HIV transmission dynamic models to help assess policy alternatives of national level implementation of TB preventive therapy in Malawi. Her current research interests are in disease simulation models, cost-effectiveness evaluation, and resource allocation problems. She hopes to work at the intersection of disease modeling and decision sciences to help design intervention programs that can help reduce health and economic burdens in communities disproportionately affected by infectious diseases.
Prior to entering the Harvard Health Policy PhD Program, Mike Eber was a director at Precision Health Economics, a research consultancy, where his work focused on measuring and communicating value in health care. Mike also held prior positions at Resources for the Future, where he conducted policy research to combat the spread of antibiotic resistance and hospital infections, and at Abt Associates, where he conducted economic evaluations of proposed government regulations. Mike received a bachelor’s degree in operations research and financial engineering and a certificate in engineering and management systems from Princeton University.
