CHDS Seminar on Cancer Modeling

CHDS hosted a seminar with Shaun Forbes, PhD Candidate in Health Services Research at the Brown University School of Public Health, on “Propagating Ambiguity into Mathematical Models for Colorectal Cancer Screening” this February.

The Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) has identified epistemic uncertainty as a major cross-cutting challenge for their modeling analyses, because scientific understanding of the modeled phenomena is incomplete. Mr. Forbes argues that this challenge is a special case of decision making under ambiguity and discusses his proposal to develop and empirically assess a frame-work for robust test-and treat decision-making under ambiguity.
