CHDS Faculty Zachary Ward will present a new course this spring geared to doctoral and advanced masters students: Advanced Computational Methods for Disease Modeling. This is an advanced course on statistical and computational methods applicable for disease modelling in public health and medicine. Students will apply methods related to three core modules: numerical methods, simulation-based inference, and high performance computing.
The course will use interactive lectures with structured coding guidance to provide an overview of various computational topics related to disease modeling. Students will learn the role of computational science in public health and medicine and learn to implement numerical methods useful in various modeling topics. They will develop an understanding of simulation-based inference. As part of the course, students will develop and present a simulation-based research project.
