CHDS faculty Ankur Pandya received the 2022 Roger L. Nichols Award for Excellence in Teaching at the Harvard Chan School’s Commencement Ceremony. The award is selected through a review of student evaluations, as well as other faculty teaching and mentoring activities. It recognizes ‘excellence in classroom instruction, capacity to inspire students and dedication to teaching.’

Students’ comments emphasized Pandya’s sense of fun and care for students, as well as his technical expertise. Comments included, “please take this course if you want to have fun while learning valuable skills that can be applied to real-life problems,” “knew nothing about the topic and really appreciated learning a new analytic framework for decision making and policy development,” “Prof. Pandya is very relatable and engaging but don’t let that deceive you, he means business,” “an amazing professor who brings high energy and humor to every class session,” and simply, “must take!”

In addition to teaching, Pandya’s areas of interest are applied decision science, connecting cost-effectiveness analysis with broader value-based health polices and methodological topics within disease simulation modeling. His research focuses on cardiovascular disease, stroke policy and HIV complications.
