CHDS Faculty Jane Kim and Nicole Campos were awarded funds for the 2025 cycle of the Lemann Brazil Research Fund, which supports research projects on current issues facing Brazil. Their project, “Cost-effectiveness of cervical cancer screening strategies for high-risk remote populations in Brazil,” will leverage an existing collaboration among researchers at the US National Cancer Institute, the National Cancer Institute in Brazil (INCA), the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ), and the Amazonas Oncology Control Center Foundation (FCECON). The proposed research will evaluate the cost-effectiveness and affordability of cervical cancer screening campaigns targeting high-risk, underscreened women in Brazil. This work is expected to inform national screening guidelines regarding novel screening and management approaches, particularly in remote populations with limited access to healthcare infrastructure.
