CHDS faculty Jane Kim and Eve Wittenberg experimented with integrating writing skills into the RDS curriculum. “Decision science is a complex field and can seem cryptic to people reading our research” said Wittenberg. She worked with Professor Kim to develop a writing session for Kim’s experientially-focused modeling course, “Experiential Learning and Applied Research in Decision Analysis” (RDS290), to help students effectively convey their projects. The CHDS repository team developed an accompanying resource pack of materials on academic writing to supplement such sessions and provide materials outside of the classroom. Kim hopes to integrate presentation skills into her course as well, to ensure that students can translate their modeling research to policy makers and other academics.
