CHDS hosted a seminar with Matthew Robson, PhD, Postdoctoral Researcher in Economics at University of York. The seminar was on “Differential Effects of the Smoking Ban in England.”
This study uses a regression discontinuity framework to identify causal effects of the United Kingdom’s ban on smoking tobacco in enclosed public places, instituted in 2007. It focuses on identifying effects for socioeconomic status by constructing a composite multidimensional measure. It also decomposes the observed effects to identify underlying mechanisms and moderators of the ban.
