Gaziano Assumes World Heart Federation Leadership Roles

Thomas Gaziano, MD, MSc, of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, has been appointed board member of the World Heart Federation and chair of its Partners Council.

Gaziano serves as the representative of the American College of Cardiology on the Partners Council, holding the chair position through the end of 2018. The Partners Council is made up of representatives from other organizations and societies, including the American Heart Association, the European Society of Cardiology, the British Heart Foundation, the Japanese Circulation Society, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

With clinical interests in coronary heart disease and international cardiovascular disease, Gaziano has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed articles. He has received research funding from the Initiative for Cardiovascular Health, the National Institutes of Health and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.

The World Heart Federation is committed to uniting its members in leading the global fight against heart disease and stroke.
