Joe Pliskin, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management and Sidney Liswood Professor of Health Care Management at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, joined the CHDS Media Hub for a two-week residency. Pliskin worked with Media Hub Director Jake Waxman to create an educational video series on heuristics for the online introductory decision science course, RDS 202, launched in Spring, 2017.

His “real-life” example of clinical decision making for hip replacement surgery served to illustrate the compelling applications of decision analysis for patient decision making. Pliskin also taped segments on decision psychology to augment decision analysis courses, including framing effects, the availability heuristic, and the Ellsberg paradox.

The video series is accessible in the CHDS repository resource pack “Heuristics with Joe Pliskin.”
